The year is winding down, which means, lots of New Year’s content. I’m busy preparing posts for the new year, but for now, seeing as it’s still too early, I’d thought I’d give you a sneak peek with this New Year’s Resolution Book Tag!
1.) An author you’d like to read (that you’ve never read before).

Anything and everything by Han Kang. I mean everything. All of her books sound amazing and there’s not been a single one that hasn't lived up to the hype. But if I had to choose one, The White Book sounds very intriguing.
2.) A book you’d like to read.

For this one I’m going with a new release: Black Leopard, Red Wolf by Marlon James is the first in a trilogy. This is a fantasy novel about Tracker, a skilled hunter sent to find a boy who has been missing for three years. Not only does it sound amazing, but it looks good too. This is set to be released February 5, 2019.
As an aside: If you’re looking forward to My Most Anticipated Releases of 2019, don’t worry I got you. I’ll have that posted in no time!
3.) A classic you’d like to read.

Easy, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. I’ve admittedly read half of this years back, but then I put it down and never finished it. Not sure why I never picked it up again, because it’s a great classic. You’ve got ghosts, terrible evil mothers and an awfully bitter love interest. I mean what more could you ask for?
4.) A book you’d like to re-read.

Have I mentioned The Argonauts by Maggie Nelson enough this year? That’s right, I’ve wanted to re-read this one since I finished it in June, but this time with highlighters and pens. Once I have my own copy I can draw all over it and save the sweet bits for later.
5.) A book you’ve had for ages and want to read.

I own quite a lot of books that I haven’t read, one that stands out in particular has got to be The Story of My Teeth by Valeria Luiselli. This book was yet another DNF, probably because Luiselli's work is profoundly bizarre and at the time this was too absurd for me to follow.
6.) A big book you’d like to read.
![](https://static.wixstatic.com/media/e17b88_6e19083df3584548b7ef943756cd7ed9~mv2.jpg/v1/fill/w_300,h_463,al_c,q_80,enc_auto/e17b88_6e19083df3584548b7ef943756cd7ed9~mv2.jpg)
The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt. This is another one of those cases where I read a good chunk of the book and put it down. I really enjoyed this book, but the sheer size of it is really intimidating. I just could not see myself getting through it.
7.) An author you’ve previously read and want to read more of.
![](https://static.wixstatic.com/media/e17b88_f85c5cdba19a4710a7ded04a1a8a2796~mv2.jpg/v1/fill/w_297,h_475,al_c,q_80,enc_auto/e17b88_f85c5cdba19a4710a7ded04a1a8a2796~mv2.jpg)
Oh boy, I can’t just pick one. I’ve read some phenomenal books this year by some very talented authors. Clearly Maggie Nelson ranks supreme, I still need to read Bluets and The Art of Cruelty sometime within the next year.
8.) A book you got for Xmas and would like to read.
![](https://static.wixstatic.com/media/e17b88_10245b62eba74ee0ad306d1652bd60e1~mv2.jpg/v1/fill/w_247,h_400,al_c,q_80,enc_auto/e17b88_10245b62eba74ee0ad306d1652bd60e1~mv2.jpg)
I only asked for two books for Christmas this year, and it should come as no surprise that one of them was indeed The Argonauts, but the other I am very excited to read and have been for a very long time and that is Chroma by Derek Jarman.
9.) A series you want to read (start to finish).
![](https://static.wixstatic.com/media/e17b88_c1c7310a58524b4da1ad9a91ff1cbf61~mv2.jpg/v1/fill/w_318,h_411,al_c,q_80,enc_auto/e17b88_c1c7310a58524b4da1ad9a91ff1cbf61~mv2.jpg)
I’m really not a fan of reading series but I do have one or two in mind for the new year, right now I’m gonna go with the Wildwood Chronicles by Colin Meloy. This is one of those books I’ve had sitting on my bookshelves for years now and I just have not picked it up.
10.) A series you’ve started but have yet to complete.
![](https://static.wixstatic.com/media/e17b88_970626cd52704fbda4f9ce5f2cb40136~mv2.jpg/v1/fill/w_318,h_461,al_c,q_80,enc_auto/e17b88_970626cd52704fbda4f9ce5f2cb40136~mv2.jpg)
I’m gonna go with the Mirror Visitor Quartet by Christelle Dabos. This counts right? I’ve really enjoyed the first book, it was just what I wanted. I’ll talk more about my thoughts on it in my December wrap-up, but let’s just say it was good and leave it at that for now. The second book is coming very very soon. It is expected to release April 30, 2019.
11.) Do you set reading goals? If so, how many books do you want to read in 2019?
Yes, I do set reading goals and no, I usually never reach them. Seeing as I did pretty good on my reading goal this year, I’m going to bump it up to 15 books in 2019. I don’t want to set myself up for failure this time around, but 15 feels more than doable.
12.) Any other reading goals?
I’m going to have to skip this one for right now, but don’t worry, you can expect to see a 2018 Year in Review and a 2019 Reading Goals post sometime in the near future and much much more.
Well that’s it for this one, I'll see you all soon with My Most Anticipated Releases of 2019.
